Who Owns the Mountain Valley Pipeline?

Mountain Valley Pipeline is a joint venture between 5 main corporations. These corporations are all involved in fracked gas gathering and transmission beyond just the MVP. The corporation who owns 45.5% is Equitrans Midstream LLC (EQTRN), a subsidiary of Pittsburgh company EQT. These companies all have headquarters. Equitrans Midstream’s board of directors all have other organizations and companies that they are affiliated with.

Equitrans Midstream

EQT Midstream Partners, a subsidiary of EQT, is the main company behind the MVP. They have 45.5% ownership over the project. Their parent company, EQT, has a contract to ship 58% of MVP’s fracked gas.

NextEra Energy Resources

NextEra Energy Resources is one of the five project partners behind the MVP. They have 31% ownership over the project. They are also the parent company for USG Properties Marcellus Holdings LLC, which has a contract to ship 6% of MVP's fracked gas. They are also trying to rebrand themselves as a renewable energy company.

Con Edison Transmission

Con Edison Transmission is one of the five project partners behind the MVP. They have 12.5% ownership over the project. They also have a contract to ship 12.5% of MVP's fracked gas.

WGL Midstream/AltaGas

WGL Midstream is one of the five project partners behind the MVP. They have 10% ownership over the project. They have contracts to ship 10% of the fracked gas through MVP. Their parent company, AltaGas, has other subsidiaries.

RGC Midstream

RGC Midstream LLC is one of the five project partners behind the MVP. They have 1% ownership over the project. They are the parent company of Roanoke Gas Company, who has a contract to ship 0.5% of MVP's fracked gas. They are the only local company involved in the project. RGC's involvement is often brought up by MVP as a benefit for the local community.
